Already a backlash in Europe over nuclear power.
Germany's anti-nuclear Green Party has scored a remarkable state election victory, dealing a blow to the party of Angela Merkel, the German chancellor, according to preliminary poll results.

the pictures are very misleading, as the second picture is taken further up the road , where as you can see in the first image there is no damage.

Michael Hermesh - Sorry, I'd disagree with you. You can click on the photo itself to see a larger version of it. In any case, comparing the sign/tower on the left and the trees/fence on the right, it seems clear that this is the same section of road. Or close enough to it.
Unless you're simply suggesting that the photojournalist was trying to lie, and the road that is said to now be open isn't really open. Seems ridiculous to me. At least based on the photographic evidence.

Fujkushiima has been a revelation for George Monbiot: thanks to that disaster hes learned to stop worrying and love nuclear power!
My letter to george:
Hi george
your Guardian article on how you learned to stop worrying and love nukes
http://www.guardian.co.u...-nuclear-japan-fukushima
is a bit premature...April fools day is not till friday!
'Yet, as far as we know, no one has yet received a lethal dose of radiation.'
that is noone has died yet..is that what your saying?. Well its too soon to say for Fukusihima, but with Chernobyl...its not:
http://www.greenpeace.or...chernobyl-deaths-180406/
140000 is a nice round number for just one power station...
theres also amatter of cancer and birth defects.
I take it youve also fallen in love with nuclear waste...and DU.
As a fellow Green, i can say youre very much alone in your new found love.
I hope a UK nuke plabt also melt down, then you will be able to demonstrate your love by helping the cleanup, without protective clothing, for as you say: nuke power is not lethal
Regards

.. brian I don't understand Americans preoccupation with "nuclear exposure" , you have spread over a thousand tons of "depleted Uranium" in Iraq alone . Then there is Afghanistan ,Pakistan ,Yemen ,Bosnia and all that stuff you have given Israel .So they can spread the stuff around Gaza . Who cares if your east coast gets a "spike" ,its nothing compared to the thousand tons of "depleted Uranium" in Iraq. Suck it up and harden up !
